The data collected will help government make informed decisions about employment conditions.

The Central Statistics Office of Saint Lucia is seeking the cooperation of the general public to ensure that vital information on the workforce continues to be available.

The Labour Force is an ongoing survey that has been conducted by the Central statistics Office since 1994. The survey collects reliable and up-to-date information from all members of randomly-selected households for a one-week reference period. The statistics office analyzes the information collected and releases information for various population sub-groups. The data allows the office to track unemployment by sex, age group, education level, and average income; and also assists governments, communities, businesses, and organizations to make informed decisions about jobs and employment conditions.

All personal information provided to the Central Statistics Office remains strictly confidential. Stringent safeguards are in place. All field officers who collect data must take an oath of secrecy and display a picture identification card provided by the Central Statistics Office.

Members of households selected to participate and who wish to confirm the status of the survey may contact the Central Statistics Office. The data currently being collected for the Labour Force survey will be published in May.
